Totally cool: ALPS RESORTS goes Saalbach.
As of the beginning of December 2022, we will also be in one of the coolest holiday regions in all of Austria! The Saalbach Suites stand right next to the piste in Jausern (ski-out), barely 4 km from the village center of Saalbach. So, other than a wellness area and the included breakfast, what other highlights can you expect during your holiday at the Saalbach Suites in the Saalbach-Hinterglemm region?
Skiing in Saalbach-Hinterglemm
Practically everyone knows Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Be that because of the ski world championships such as the one held here in 1991, or due to the enormous selection of pistes. This famous Pinzgau valley also connects to Leogang-Fieberbrunn and, boasting a grand total of 270 kilometers of pistes, 70 lifts, around 60 mountain huts and ski chalets, freeride and snow parks as well as floodlit pistes, guarantees a truly cool winter experience during any ski vacation. The Skicircus is also a hot tip for freeriders thanks to an array of off-piste opportunities.
Saalbach is a member of the Ski Alpin Card. With this ski pass in hand, you will be able to cruise the pistes of the Skicircus, on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and on the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. Roughly 400 kilometers in total. Pretty sweet, right? And as I previously mentioned: The Saalbach Suites lie right by the piste, meaning you will be able to glide straight from the slopes back into the ALPS RESORT. Then make a beeline for the wellness area, immediately followed by the hot tub…
One recommendation for ultra-ambitious skiers is the Skicircus-Runde. Aided by 32 different lifts as well as your own finely tuned thigh muscles, you will cover 12,400 vertical meters and 65 piste kilometers in around 7 hours. Definitely not the occasion to dawdle since this is all about rising to the sporting challenge. An achievement that will also be underscored by your smartwatch. The same applies to two other ski circuits, the Saalbachrunde and the Tirolrunde.
Extraordinary Winter Events
Saalbach-Hinterglemm has also made a name for itself as an event location. Aside from mega sporting competitions such as the Ski World Championships*, also the host of legendary music events such as the Rave on Snow, which has taken place annually at the beginning of December ever since 1993. It's then that thousands of party animals dance in a variety of locations to the vibrant rhythms of electronic beats. Sven Väth, Paul Kalkbrenner, Hausmarke, … - they have all graced Saalbach with their presence during the Rave on Snow. We can only anticipate with bated breath this year's line-up from 15. - 18.12.2022. On the other hand, the cast of performers rocking the stage during the BERGFESTival 2022 (9. – 11.12.2022) is already set in stone: including Austrian cult band Wanda, Clueso and other cool acts.
* The next FIS Alpine Ski World Championships will be coming to town in 2025.
And in summer? Biking, hiking & action
Right now, we are all completely focused on winter. So that said, here is just a short teaser of what the Pinzgau region has to offer you in summer: With over 80 lines and as many as 9 ultramodern lifts on 7 mountains, Saalbach is one of the biggest biking regions in Austria. Also nothing to sneeze at: 400 km of hiking paths as well as exciting hiking challenges and theme trails (also for families with children!). Is action a must during your summer holidays? Awaiting adventurers at the valley head is the Mega Flying Fox zipline, the Jump & Slide Park, Europe's biggest high-ropes park, along with the Forest Canopy Path.
