Your car gets to take a bit of a break as well! As of May 2025, when you check into your accommodations in the Salzburg region, you will automatically receive the Guest Mobility Ticket. This lets you use all public transportation in your selected holiday region for free.
What is the Guest Mobility Ticket?
The Guest Mobility Ticket is your personal “free pass” for unlimited public transportation during your stay in Salzburg province – from your arrival all the way through departure. The ticket is financed through a so-called mobility fee, which is charged per overnight stay in Salzburger Land, very similar to the local tourism tax.
The ticket includes the following services:
- Regional buses
- Regional trains
- Long-distance trains
- Urban public transport
- S-Bahn suburban railways
- "Micro" public transport options.
This ticket is not valid on special trains or steam trains, or for “Night Bus” services.
Where can you get the Guest Mobility Ticket?
Every guest staying in Salzburg province receives the Guest Mobility Ticket directly from their accommodation provider. It will be issued to you at check-in either as a paper ticket or in an eco-friendly digital format. If you already completed pre-check-in before leaving home, you can even use it for your journey to the region.

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions about the Guest Mobility Ticket in Salzburg
No, the Guest Mobility Ticket does not include cableways. In our blog post "Guest Cards in Austria“, we present to you summer cards that do indeed include free use of certain summer lifts.
Yes – each holder of the Guest Mobility Ticket is entitled to bring along one dog at no extra cost on trains and busses. However, please note that dogs must be leashed and wear a muzzle on public transportation.
