Region - Dachstein West
Your winter holiday | Lammertal
Ski region Dachstein West
The Dachstein West ski area advertises with 142 kilometers of slopes, an impressive mountain panorama, rustic huts, special family-friendliness and modern lifts. A real treat is the Panoronda, a 44 km long panorama circuit with a “Dachstein view”. The start is the Donnerkogelbahn.
The Dachstein West region has also produced a skiing legend: Marcel Hirscher, one of the most successful ski racers of our time, comes from Annaberg in the Lammertal.
Cross-country, winter hiking & snow shoeing
130 tracked kilometers of cross-country skiing inspire the entire Lammertal. A highlight for cross-country skiers is the Neubachtal trail, which has been awarded the Tennengau seal of approval. Part of the loop (2.4 km) can be skied until 9 p.m. during the winter season thanks to floodlights. In addition to Ramsau and Seefeld, which mainly developed their skills from top-class sport, the Lammertal is developing as the third destination in Austria that offers perfect conditions for cross-country skiing and Nordic fitness. Abtenau and St. Martin am Tennengebirge were the first communities in the Salzburger Land to be awarded the Tennengau seal of quality. With the free introductory course for all guests, a service is offered that does not currently exist in this form in Europe.
Those who prefer to go without skis can use the (partly cleared) winter hiking trails to explore the winter landscape around the Dachstein West. And maybe even discover fresh animal tracks in the snow here and there!
Tobogganing & sleighs
Fun for the whole family: toboggan runs like the descent from the “Buttermilchalm” or snow tubing in St. Martin. It gets cozy and cozy during a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow-covered Lammertal. We will be happy to provide you with further information and tips at reception.
Your summer holiday | Lammertal
Hiking holiday
300 kilometers of signposted hiking trails, alpine trails and themed hiking trails await you in your holiday region. It doesn't have to be Bischofsmütze or Dachstein, the Lammertal offers hiking opportunities for every taste. The pleasure hiker will find just as much as the ambitious mountain fanatic. And the snack at the managed alpine hut tastes good. It doesn't matter how many vertical meters you have conquered.
Whether you follow in the footsteps of Empress Sissi, who has probably already enjoyed her summer freshness on the Zwieselalm, enjoy the view from the box seat between Mahd- and Loseggalm and recharge your batteries, or the 300-year-old and 48-meter-high “Lammertaler” in the Lammertal primeval forest Visit Wächter - you will see that a day like this in Austria's mountains can work wonders ...
Mountainbike & E-Bike
For mountain bikers and e-bikers, the Salzburg Tennengau also has one or two delicacies ready: You can ride stages of the Salzburger Almentour, pedal on the Dachstein circuit or on one of the 20 routes of various degrees of difficulty (total 720 Kilometers).
Water sports
Canyoning and rafting tours provide the necessary cooling on hot vacation days (and the necessary adrenaline rush). Or of course, a visit to the Lungötz forest pool with a large children's playground.
Our excursion tips
Hut to Hut
I find our mountains at their most beautiful when the rhododendron bloom and the gentian grow. That’s when we well and truly know that Alpine summer has arrived. The mountain huts open up again, the cows – after spending winter in the barn – relish the fresh alpine herbs and, whenever we have a free minute, we pack our rucksacks and head out. When you spend the whole day on your feet, you have well and truly earned a delicious “Brettljause” – including full flavored cheeses and home-cured bacon. At the Stuhlalm, for example, which was run for 14 years by the parents of Austrian ski star Marcel Hirscher. Or at the Loseggalm, famous for cheese specialties far beyond its home Tennengau region. The cheeses are actually made at the Fürstenhof, to which they belong, and have received a grand total of 9 (!) gold, silver and bronze medals in Austria-wide competitions. Mmmmmh. Or at the Mahdalm, with its magical views of the Gosaukamm. Or…
Salzburg - the City of Mozart
Saunter along the world-famous Getreidegasse, sip on a delicious coffee at Café Tomaselli or shop at the small boutiques of the historic district. Mozart’s birthplace, Hohensalzburg Fortress, Schloss Mirabell and the trick fountains of Hellbrunn. A day such as this in Salzburg simply flies by. Our provincial capital has much to offer and is only about 50 minutes away by car. Ask us about the Park & Ride opportunities for exploring the city without having to worry about your car.
World of Ice Giants & Burg Hohenwerfen
A visit to the World of Ice Giants in Werfen isn’t only a good idea on hot summer days. Incidentally, always be sure to wear something warm, since the temperatures are “icy” in this, the world’s biggest ice cave at 42 km in length! The cave can only be visited as part of a guided tour and, along with the Grossglockner High-Alpine Road and Krimml Waterfalls, is one of the most popular sightseeing attractions in Salzburger Land. The giant ice caves can be reached in roughly a 40-minute drive from your holiday accommodations. And you are barely 15 minutes by car from the next astonishing excursion destination: Inhale the atmosphere of the Middle Ages as you explore Burg Hohenwerfen. The history of this fortress goes back to the 11th century. Today, visitors love to give themselves a bit of a scare browsing the torture chamber, followed by a bird of prey show during which buzzards and eagles show off their amazing aerial skills.
HeuART Festival
At the world's largest hay figure parade, it feels like the whole Lammertal is on its feet. The HeuART festival takes place annually at the end of August or beginning of September, during the farmers' autumn, and attracts visitors from all over Europe. More than a ton of hay is processed here - and everyone takes part: Women, men, young and old. What is created here in hours of manual labour is really worth seeing. If your holiday should fall on another travel period, a visit to the hay figures trail is recommended: There are monkeys hanging from the tree, you pass Grisu, the fire dragon, you meet Luan, the hayworm, and many other impressive works of art. The 4 km long path can be walked with a pram, and you can start directly from your cosy holiday home.
Gaudi Golf
Gaudigolf in Annaberg combines hiking with golfing and is a great highlight for the whole family. The “course” comprises 14 different stations, played similar to regular minigolf – though with wooden clubs and a wooden ball. There are 2 different routes, one is also suitable for prams (taking roughly 30 minutes to walk).

Feedback from our guests
Our favourite destination in both summer and winter. Alpendorf is perfectly placed for some great skiing in the beautiful Dachstein mountains over the winter time, with fabulous friendly restaurants and beautiful views. And in summer the hiking trails straight from the village can take you as far and as high as you wish. The new electric mountain bikes available below reception were great fun last month as well. The team at reception are always so helpful :-)
There is a sauna and hearth a every cottage, so you won't get cold after a long day full of skiing a there is swimming pool in the complex, too. You can get to ski resort by car in 5 minutes or less and if there is enough snow you could propably make it on ski, but I have never tried :D. It's a great place for 9 people (maybe more if someone don't mind sleeping on sofa) and I personaly have a lot of great memories from there. If you want to visit Dachstein West, I deffinitely recommend you to go there.
Very nice chalet. We spent 3 nights and had a great time. In the area are many things for families to do in both summer and winter
We enjoyed very much our stay due mainly to the central location, the comfortable and fully equiped house, the gorgeous view and the warm and helpfull attitude of the staff.
Beautiful holiday homes. Loved it. Well maintained and in beautiful location.
