Group Accommodations for Family Gatherings in the Austrian Alps

A Holiday at ALPS RESORTS Brings Generations Together

There's a popular saying, "Home is where the family is." That said, why not relocate that home to the beautiful mountainous world of the Austrian Alps? ALPS RESORTS offers spacious group accommodations for family gatherings. Situated in the heart of ski and hiking areas and equipped with private spas, you are set for some truly unforgettable family times.

Strengthening Bonds: Why Family Get-Togethers Are Important

Sometimes a single family lives hundreds of miles apart. At others, tight daily schedules filled with work and other commitments make it hard to get together regularly. A few hectic hours over Christmas just don’t cut it. Take a proper break for shared activities and stimulating conversations, for unforgettable experiences that will become tomorrow's nostalgic memories.

Another "yes-I-want-to" reason: Group accommodations are much more affordable. At ALPS RESORTS, one price covers accommodations for everyone. That said, the more family members that stay, the cheaper the price per person becomes. This affords you the opportunity to treat yourself to a complete mountain chalet with your own pool. At ALPS RESORTS, comfortable group accommodations await you for family gatherings in the mountains of Austria. So, what are you waiting for? Pack your skis, hiking boots, swimsuits, and all your loved ones!

Tips: Planning and Organizing Group Accommodations for Family Gatherings

  • Start planning your family event early so that everyone can take time off work and your preferred holiday accommodations still have plenty of vacancies.
  • Choose the right time to travel. What season is best for family members? Do you need to consider school holidays or semester breaks?
  • How many different parties will be attending the family reunion? Who can share a bedroom with whom? How many rooms do you need in total?
  • Do the accommodations have enough space and bathrooms for everyone? Are there communal meeting points like a large terrace, a pool, or a spacious kitchen/dining area?

  • How will family members travel - by public transport or private car? Can carpooling be arranged?
  • What attractions and sporting activities are available nearby? Are there adventure parks for children, museums and events for adults? Are the sporting activities suitable for all skill levels (e.g., themed hiking paths for families including gondola lifts, bunny hills, and trails for children)?
  • For larger groups of about 12 or more, it's advisable to make advance reservations, such as at restaurants, for sightseeing tours, or for activities like family rafting, in order to avoid long waiting times.
  • At self-catering accommodations, shared packing lists can help with advance planning. Divide up who should bring what; this saves money and space in your luggage.

Mastering Challenges of a Family Get-Together

A family reunion is about bringing together multiple generations with different needs, which requires tolerance. So, do what you can to ensure a harmonious balance between "We" and "Me" time. Plan shared “rituals” and times for communal activities; this will strengthen the sense of togetherness. Rituals might include a group breakfast, a daily morning walk, a games night, or a sauna session together just before bedtime. Open communication is crucial. Find mutual solutions and compromises, give each other time and space.

Schedule Time for Relaxation

Equally important are time slots in which individual family members can split up or retreat according to their personal interests and wants. Young children need play and rest times, and must go to bed earlier. Sports-loving youngsters may want to hit the slopes, while grandparents might prefer coffee and cake at a mountain hut. People have always loved to gather around water and warmth. At our holiday homes and holiday apartments, you can enjoy amenities such as pools, whirlpools, hot tubs, saunas, or infrared cabins in a private setting. Whether you want to read a book in peace or just drift off - the choice is yours. Kids can cool off in the water to process the day's exciting events, while adults can regenerate their muscles after a busy day conquering the nearby slopes and summits.
