Your holiday in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena
Between Zugspitze, mountain lakes & Tyrolean hospitality
In the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, you can spend your holiday on the sunny side of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. Seven charming villages await you: Biberwier, Ehrwald, Lermoos, Berwang, Bichlbach, Heiterwang am See and Namlos - places that have retained their original character to this day. The combination of living tradition and unspoilt mountains makes the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena a special holiday destination: surrounded by the Zugspitze, Ammergau Alps, Lechtal Alps, Mieminger Kette and the Wetterstein Mountains, you will find an alpine natural jewel with clear mountain lakes, numerous hiking trails, bike routes and one of the most varied winter sports offers in Tyrol.
Thanks to the respectful treatment of nature, the region has been able to retain its original charm: wide larch meadows, protected valley areas and authentic village centres characterise the landscape. The place names also go back to old descriptions of the landscape and nature:
- Biberwier: former beaver deposits and wetlands
- Ehrwald: "eagle forest" or wooded slopes
- Lermoos: "Lärchenmoor"
- Berwang: "bear slope"
- Bichlbach: describes a stream on a hill
- Heiterwang am See: "Heiterer Hang" or sunny south-facing slope
- Namlos: remote, quiet valley
