Mountain railway and hiking: Kodok’s Adventure & Ball Track, Reiterkogel
Help Kodok the Goblin by solving all 11 puzzles along the 3.2 km adventure trail: A cunning troll has stolen valuable magic tools from him! Kodok’s adventure starts at the Reiterkogel cable car station in the mountains and is also pram-friendly. The route takes you past the Rosswald reservoir. There, children can let off steam at the water playground or try their hand at the motor skills course and climbing elements. Another highlight is Kodok’s ball tracks with its wooden balls on the forest path between Rosswaldhütte and Reiterkogel mountain station. You can travel on the Reiterkogel mountain railway free of charge with the Joker Card.
Mountain railway and hiking: Montelino’s Adventure Trail, Kohlmais
Embark on a playful mission: Will you manage to find Clown Montelino’s lost smile? Start your hike at the Kohlmaisbahn mountain station and work your way along on the 3 km adventure trail via 15 game and puzzle stations towards Mittelstation. The route is pram-friendly and there are plenty of places to stop for refreshments along the way. You can cool off at Montelino’s water playground, located at the end of the Montelino’s Adventure Trail, next to the Ederalm chalet and Kohlmais Mittelstation. You can travel on the Kohlmais mountain railway free of charge with the Joker Card.
New (Summer 2025): Montelino’s Erlebnisalm (Adventure Playground) is a large playground at the centre of Hinterglemm. A water playground, various slides, climbing walls and ball tracks await you there.
Swimming: Käptn Hook Adventure Pool, Saalbach
A dip in the cool water is a must on a summer holiday with children: The Käptn Hook Adventure Pool in Saalbach has a variety of water slides, a whitewater course, spacious sunbathing areas and a beach volleyball court. Entry is free with the Joker Card.
Water activities: Teufelswasser Devil's Water Theme Park, Talschluss
At the end of the valley in Saalbach Hinterglemm is the Teufelswasser theme park: a spacious water playground with its ‘Kneipp’ pools (fishponds) and play and wellness facilities. Ideal when combined with a visit to Lindlingalm, the Treetop Trail or Schnitza’s Holzpark Wooden Toys. The easiest way to get there is to take the Talschluss train, which runs every half hour between Lengau and Lindlingalm. The end of the valley is a real adventure paradise for older children, who can get their dose of adrenaline as they navigate the high ropes course, the Mega Flying Fox experience or at the Jump & Slide Park.
Motor skills course, Jausern - Saalbach
The 5 km long motor skills course leads along the Saalbach promenade from Jausern/Schönleitenbahn in the direction of Saalbach. You can train your dexterity, balance, coordination and fitness at 24 stations and have lots of fun in the process. The motor skills course is free to use and forms part of the Kids Hiking Challenge.
Cycling: Learn to Ride Park, Kohlmais
The early bird gets the worm... Your little ones can try out four different beginner trails and a drop area on their bikes at the Kohlmaisbahn valley station in Saalbach. A conveyor belt takes cyclists back up to the start free of charge. The Learn to Ride Park is free of charge. If you are looking for professional support, get in touch with one of the bike schools or bike hire services – there are plenty of them in Austria’s largest bike park in Saalbach Hinterglemm, Leogang Fieberbrunn!
Treetop Trail at end of the Saalbach Hinterglemm valley
The Treetop Trail with the Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps is one of the most popular excursions for families in Saalbach-Hinterglemm: You can walk for around 1 km at lofty heights on Europe’s highest treetop walk. The spectacular Golden Gate of the Alps is 200 metres long and rises up to 42 metres above the forest floor!
Adventure and action-packed activities for young people
There is plenty for older children and adults to do at the end of the valley. With a length of 8 km and around 200 stations, the high ropes course is the largest high ropes course in Europe. The mini course, which opens this summer (2025), is where children from the age of 3 can put their climbing skills to the test. The Jump & Slide Park features a giant slide, mega jumping towers and a 13-metre-long bouldering wall.
You will engage your brains and skills on the ‘Mystery Queens’ and ‘Path of the Smugglers’ escape trails. Start your scavenger hunt at the tourist office - tours are suitable for kids aged 12 and over.
Family-friendly ‘aparthotel’ with pool and Joker Card
The Saalbach Suites are located in Saalbach-Jausern, approx. 500 m from the Schönleitenbahn cable car (open in winter) and 4 km from the centre of Saalbach. Some of the spacious suites are equipped with a private sauna and outdoor bathtub, while other facilities at the Saalbach Suites include an outdoor pool and saunas. Breakfast is included and original Neapolitan pizzas and other Italian delicacies are served at the ALPS KITCHEN mangia!
You can start the motor skills course as soon as you leave your suite, and the bus stop for travelling to other excursions without a car is located 200 metres from the Saalbach Suites. The Guest Mobility Ticket allows you to travel for free on public transport throughout the state of Salzburg.
Also included: the Joker Card, which allows you to ride the cable cars, use the outdoor pool and access other services free of charge.
