Our excursion tips
Erlebnistherme Zillertal
Whether totally relaxed and just the two of you, or with the entire family – Erlebnistherme Zillertal in Fügen is an ideal option for young and old, especially when the weather isn’t at its best. On 1000 m², a variety of in- and outdoor pools guarantee endless bathing enjoyment and moments of pure self-indulgence. Particularly popular with the kids: great slides and even a wave pool. But even parents are sure to have a fantastic time here as well. Highly recommended: the brine pool, whose salt crystals will give you a gentle, soothing peel and do wonders for your skin complexion. On top of that, they offer 8 different saunas and steam cabins for all avid sauna-goers.
Erlebnispark Aufenfeld mit Badesee
At the Aufenfeld amusement park in Aschau im Zillertal, the whole family gets to enjoy lots of fun and action. On hot days, the big swimming pond with waterfall and grassy sunbathing areas provides the cooling refreshment you need after a game of beach volleyball or a go-kart race. The small-animal petting zoo and the climbing cube are both hugely popular. And for cowboy fans amongst the visitors, the park has a number of special treats in store, including a Western-style fort and a Western-themed path. In the riding area meanwhile, you can enjoy your first experiences on horseback. And for the “icing on the cake” so to speak, we suggest a mouthwatering bite to eat at the Western Steakhouse which is also located right there on the grounds.
Spieljoch Adventure Mountain
You can ride either the Spieljochbahn from Fügen or the Geols Panoramabahn straight to the top of the Spieljoch at 1920 meters above sea level. There, revealing itself before your eyes is a one-of-a-kind hiking paradise flanked by magnificent scenery. Still have energy to spare after your hike? In that case, we recommend a side trip to the adventure park. Here, they have a kids’ climbing center where they offer courses for beginners of all ages. Yet another highlight: the Family Via Ferrata, a fixed-cable climb leading directly to the summit cross on the Spieljoch. From there, you will be able to launch yourself on a spectacular ride on the Flying Fox zipline. Climbing gear, harnesses etc. are provided on site. For those of you who prefer to stay well “grounded”, you are certain to appreciate the Barefoot Path right next to the mountain station.
Marmot Land Zillertal
Animal lovers, this is for you! How often have you had the chance to see a marmot up close? Located in Kaltenbach at 1800 m above sea level, right next to the Zillertaler Höhenstraße, you will discover Marmot Land. Surrounding a ski hut there, they have created an adventure playground including a marmot park. Out on the terrace of the ski hut, they treat you to traditional cooking throughout the day. As you relax, you will be able to enjoy the magical panoramic view of the Zillertal mountain world. Until the end of October, you will also be around the marmots. After that, the marmots will “bed down” for the winter and hibernate until springtime. You can reach Marmot Land by car or bus. Incidentally, the Zillertaler Höhenstraße is one of the most beautiful alpine roads in Austria.

Feedback from our guests
We visited 2 adults and 3 children in the summer. We were very pleased with the hotel. Rooms are very nicely decorated. Kitchen is well equipped. You’ll find all you need in the apartment. No A/C like most of Austrian hotels. But evenings are usually cool enough. Underground parking (I loved the acoustics in the garage - best I have ever experienced) The heated pool, sauna and relaxation floor is great and we loved it. Supermarket is just 5min walk. Even the living room sofa bed was comfortable (considering…). The hotel is situated in a not very touristic neighborhood though. The staff were super helpful and the check in was very easy and simple.
Wonderful, new, and well furnished apartment. Highly recommended!
We stayed in Fügen at the Alps Resort for a week. It was beautiful. The apartments were large, super clean and well furnished. You could pick up the bread rolls you ordered at reception every morning. After the hikes, we enjoyed spending time in the wellness area. There were different scents that you could use for the sauna infusion, the pool was heated and you felt super comfortable. We would love to come back!
We had a very nice stay at the ALPS Resorts in Fügen at Easter. The rooms are attractively and modernly furnished, we found enough space for 3 people (2 adults, 1 child 5 years old). We didn't miss anything in the kitchen either. Check-in after 6 p.m. and access to the underground car park worked great. The wellness area is sufficient with two saunas, an infrared cabin and relaxation areas. The outdoor pool is very well filled with 6 people and does not offer the opportunity to swim, but with children it is a welcome refreshment/bathing fun. The disadvantage is that the rooms, especially the bedroom, heat up a lot despite the low temperatures - without opening the window it would be too warm even at Easter time. It must be torture in the summer. Something urgently needs to happen here! We were in Apartment House A, 2nd floor, so the argument that the sauna heats this complex too much is illogical/incomprehensible. When using the washing machine, remember that the charge is 1 EUR/hour, so make sure you put in enough money when choosing a program! It would also be recommended - dear Alps Resort team - if protective covers were put on the mattresses. Guests should also be informed that the card for room access will be deactivated at 10 a.m. sharp on the day of departure. The cleaning staff were also already lined up in front of the door (arrival at 4 p.m. on the day of arrival!). Otherwise a really good alternative to the hotel, as you can walk 2 minutes to the Spar market in the morning for bread rolls etc. and can easily look after yourself. Various restaurants (including in the nearby hotels) are recommended. The staff at reception are very helpful and provide information.
