Nature meets culture: What makes a holiday home in Bavaria so special

With almost 2.6 million hectares of forest land, southern Germany is particularly close to nature, and utterly relaxing. One absolute highlight is the Bavarian Forest on the border with the Czech Republic. Not only because it is part of the largest expanse of forest in Europe, but also because primeval forest-like biotopes have evolved inside the national park.

Interested? Then our Englmar Chalets are just right for you. Breathe deeply, replenish your oxygen levels, and enjoy your break in St. Englmar, a small community renowned for its astonishingly healthful climate. Meanwhile, lovers of the original fauna and flora will be thrilled by their hiking holiday in the Bavarian Forest.

Our Inzell Chalets are located in Chiemgau on the border with Austria. Here, Bavaria displays itself in all its majestic splendor. Massive alpine massifs rise up from the foothills, and numerous lakes are fed by meltwater from the mountains. One of them is Lake Chiemsee, just 25 km away, also nicknamed the “Bavarian Sea”. In another direction, the city of Mozart, Salzburg, is only 35 km away.

In the Alpine region, Bavaria proudly shows us all those things that have made it world-famous: open-hearted hospitality, the beer-garden culture, and a predisposition for fairytale castles. Our tip: pay a visit to Herrenchiemsee Palace.

Dogs are welcome guests at our holiday homes in Bavaria. Here, in the midst of nature, your furry friend will feel completely comfortable during your shared getaway. What your active vacation in Bavaria looks like

The Bavarian holiday region impresses with an astonishing wealth of natural landscapes – from the mid-elevation mountains of the Bavarian Forest to the higher reaches of the Alps themselves.

No matter what your preferred sport, Bavaria has just what you are looking for. Where there is a lot of nature, there is also plenty of space to go hiking, biking or skiing. Culturally, Bavaria loves to celebrate its folk heritage, with events that include Oktoberfest in Munich, Kulmbacher Beer Week, along with an array of regional festivals. Yet Bavaria also offers plenty of “high culture“ as well. The fairytale castles of King Ludwig II are a beautiful example, as are the Bayreuth Festival, the Pinakothek museums in Munich, as well as an array of monasteries and abbeys, such as the one on Fraueninsel island in the Chiemsee.

Summer vacations in Bavaria: hiking, cycling, and water sports

Both beginners and experienced athletes will find their personal outdoor sports El Dorado here in Bavaria. Families feel particularly comfortable in the mid-elevation mountains of the Bavarian Forest at around 1,000 meters above sea level, whilst the Bavarian region of the Alps, dominated by the 2,936 meters-high Zugspitze, offers some true challenges even for the “pros”.

The Bavarian hiking network covers around 40,000 km. Some paths can be explored close to your holiday home. Meanwhile, mountain huts, country inns, and beer gardens provide you with a welcome break as needed, serving a mouthwatering selection of regional specialties. Well-maintained bike paths, various lakes with opportunities for water sports, along with really trendy sports such as paragliding, climbing, and stand-up paddling, appeal to all age groups.

The Bavarian Forest Nature Park and Berchtesgaden Nature Park, with its picture-postcard Lake Königssee, are well worth a visit. A boat trip across Lake Chiemsee to the Herren- and Fraueninsel Islands is absolutely idyllic. There, you can admire magnificent Herrenchiemsee Palace and the picturesque abbey gardens. Holiday parks and wildlife reserves delight the whole family, while Munich and Regensburg each radiate their own charming city flair.

Hit the slopes: Winter sports opportunities close to your holiday home in Bavaria

Skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing: 842 km of pistes and around 111 cross-country skiing regions attract visitors to this white winter wonderland. Your holiday home in St. Englmar, Bavaria, is only 1.2 km from the ski area - the best scenario, in other words, for spontaneous trips to the slopes.

Our ALPS RESORTS in Bavaria promise peace and enjoyment away from tourist crowds. Whilst snowshoeing, exploring the winter hiking trails, or ice skating, you can relax and leave everyday life behind.

If you are in the mood for a bit more excitement: At sports events such as the Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen or in the Max Aicher Arena, where they host ice-hockey and speed-skating competitions, you have a great opportunity to cheer along your favorite athletes.

Rent a holiday home in Bavaria with Guest Card included

Upon your arrival, you will receive the regional Guest Card, which gives you discounted admission to museums, aquatic centers and pools, mountain lifts, and much more.
