I've never been particularly enthusiastic about math. But I have to admit, even I enjoy arithmetic! At the end of this post, we'll see how much you can save on your summer vacation in the Hohe Tauern National Park with the Nationalpark Sommercard.
Spoiler: It's an attractive, three-digit sum. Before we get started, let's quickly clarify the basic questions about the National Park Summer Card and the included excursion destinations in Salzburger Land:
What is the National Park Summer Card and how much does it cost?
The National Park Summer Card is your ticket to the most exciting excursion destinations in the Hohe Tauern National Park - free of charge or at a reduced rate. You can't buy the Summer Card. The National Park Summer Card is only issued to guests staying at partner businesses such as Carpe Solem Rauris or Bergresort Tauernblick between 1 May and 31 October. There are no extra costs for you, the National Park Summer Card is then already included in the travel price.
Where can I get the guest card for the Hohe Tauern National Park?
You will receive the National Park Summer Card at check-in. It is valid for the entire duration of your stay, i.e. including the day of arrival and departure. If you opt for the digital version, you can even use it for your arrival - for example for the popular Alpine roads Großglockner Hochalpenstraße or Gerlos Straße or with the included Guest Mobility Ticket for all public transport in Salzburger Land.
Which & how many services can I use with the National Park Summer Card?
With the National Park Summer Card, you can choose one free service per day from more than 60 attractions and excursion destinations in the Hohe Tauern National Park during your vacation. Included on top: public transport (daily) and a day ticket for the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. Many of the service partners grant a 50% discount on admission after the "used" free service.
Which excursion destinations are included in the National Park Summer Card? They are included

- Sports & leisure facilities such as outdoor pools and mini golf courses
- Museums and exhibitions
- Sights and nature experiences such as the popular national park ranger hikes
- and the Guest Mobility Ticket for all public transport in Salzburger Land

Großglockner High Alpine Road
One of Austria’s most popular tourist destinations—and for good reason: the Großglockner High Alpine Road offers 48 kilometers of breathtaking mountain views and fascinating flora & fauna. At 11 information stations, you can learn about the construction of the Alpine Road and the animals and plants in the Hohe Tauern National Park. We recommend setting aside a full day for your visit to the Großglockner High Alpine Road. With the National Park Summer Card, a day pass for the Großglockner High Alpine Road is included during your vacation, saving you € 46.50. Make sure that all passengers in the car have a valid Summer Card. This is ideal to combine with a visit to the Ferleiten Wildlife Park, located at the Fusch toll booth.
Nature: Krimml Waterfalls and WasserWelten
The Krimml Waterfalls are the highest waterfalls in Austria: the waters of the Krimmler Ache plunge 380 meters down in three stages. A true natural spectacle in the Hohe Tauern National Park. The Waterfall Trail brings you right up close to the roaring waters—a spectacular view and perfect photo opportunities guaranteed. In addition, the fine mist at the waterfalls is said to have a healing effect on asthma and allergies. At WasserWelten, the visitor center near the Krimml Waterfalls, young and old alike can discover, play, and explore while learning more about water as a precious resource. With the National Park Summer Card, you save € 15.50 per adult and € 7.70 per child on a visit to the Krimml Waterfalls and WasserWelten.
Leisure: Wildkogel Slide Park
Take the Wildkogel cable car up the mountain, then slide down via 10 tube and wave slides: The Wildkogel Slide Park in Neukirchen is a popular destination for families with children and guarantees unforgettable vacation memories! Other highlights: Kogel Mogel Arena with an adventure playground and mountain carts.
The ascent and descent on the Wildkogel are included with the National Park Summer Card; regular price: €36 per adult, €17 per child.
Mountain Railway: Rauriser Hochalmbahnen with the Bird of Prey Center
One trip, three highlights—included with the National Park Summer Card: The Rauriser Hochalmbahnen take you effortlessly up to 1,780 meters above sea level. At the Hochalm mountain station, falconer Petr will tell you all about owls, buzzards, falcons, and eagles while the birds of prey demonstrate their flying skills. After a hike along Tilly’s Forest Trail (approx. 1.5 hours), you’ll reach the Heimalm (mid-station). There, following expert guidance, you’ll wash fine gold flakes from the water and visit the mineral exhibition (additional fee applies) before taking the Hochalmbahn back down to the valley station and returning to the Carpe Solem Rauris.With the National Park Summer Card, you save € 53.50 per adult and € 36 per child (combined ticket for the mountain railway & bird of prey show & gold panning). The Carpe Solem Rauris is located right at the valley station of the Rauris Hochalmbahn, so the adventure is practically right on your doorstep.
Museum: Hohe Tauern National Park Worlds in Mittersill
At the National Park Museum in Mittersill, you’ll discover the beauty and unique features of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The exhibition is interactive and just as exciting for the younger generation as it is for adults. Highlights include the 360° panoramic cinema, the marmot burrow, and the 3D cinema.With the National Park Summer Card, you save on admission costs: € 15 for adults and € 7.50 for children.

Now let's get down to the nitty gritty and our math example! The following starting situation: You are a family of four, i.e. parents with two adorable children aged six and eight. Of course, you don't want to miss out on our top 5 experiences, nor do you want to miss out on the relaxation you need after an active day.
